Abstract

The madrasah environment is an educational space that can be developed to support environmental management through practical activities. MAN 1 Magelang is a Provincial Adiwiyata School in Central Java with open spaces and green areas, although several areas can still be developed through additional vegetation. This community service activity aimed to support the Adiwiyata Program by increasing vegetation in the madrasah environment and providing university students with practical experience in environmental care. The activity involved MAN 1 Magelang as the partner, including the principal, vice principal for curriculum, teachers, and 15 students participating in the Integrated Educational Internship Program of Universitas Tidar. The activity consisted of three stages: preliminary, implementation, and evaluation. The preliminary stage involved an environmental assessment to determine the planting locations and prepare the seedlings. The implementation stage was conducted from September 10 to 12, 2026, through direct planting activities. The evaluation involved observing the implementation and initial condition of the seedlings, as well as coordinating with the madrasah regarding plant maintenance. The results showed that 23 fruit tree seedlings were planted, consisting of three durian seedlings in the school garden and 20 seedlings of java plum, guava, matoa, and kepundung/weni in the western area and other designated locations. The contribution to the partner included additional vegetation in areas that could still be developed and the involvement of the madrasah community in the planting activity. For the students, the activity provided an opportunity to apply environmental care through direct practice. This activity supported environmental management at the madrasah as part of the sustainability of the Adiwiyata Program, with follow-up actions involving the maintenance and monitoring of seedling growth.
